There is no destination in the country quite like Coeur d’Alene. The city is small, which makes it very inviting. The city is also picturesque, situated on the shores of a large mountain lake and surrounded by thick forests. The city is also filled with great places to shop and eat.
Waking up in Coeur d’Alene left me in search of a great breakfast spot. There’s nothing quite like starting your day off with a great breakfast. I also, as usual, wanted that breakfast spot to be some kind of independently owned place that you wouldn’t necessarily find in another city.
As luck would have it, Coeur d’Alene has just that type of spot in Michael D’s Eatery.
Breakfast is good at Michael D’s, because it is a specialty there. You can also get lunch there, but they aren’t even open for dinner. My first time at Michael D’s saw me walk out with a full stomach thanks to ordering the Shameless omelette. The Shameless is ham, bacon, sausage, and three kinds of cheese; Swiss, cheddar, and jack. Wow. Good stuff.
I enjoyed Michael D’s Eatery so much that I went back on my second morning in Coeur d’Alene. Hey, I’m not the smartest guy in the world but I know when you find something good you stick with it. That time I wanted to try something on the sweet side, so I got the Waffle Combo. That was near perfect too.
I gotta say… if I had stayed in Coeur d’Alene another night… I probably would’ve had breakfast at Michael D’s Eatery one more time. I had kind of been eyeing the “Saratoga Scrambler”. I guess I’ll have to try that my next time in town.
